David Reichenberg of Spring Valley is being honored posthumously with a Carnegie medal for heroism for his effort save a boy who was electrocuted in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene.

Reichenberg, 50, was electrocuted trying to save 5-year-old Reuven Herbst, who was shocked after coming in contact with a fence that had apparently become electrified by a downed wire during Tropical Storm Irene. The incident occurred near his family's home at Merrick Drive and Union Road in Spring Valley. The boy later died from his injuries. LoHud
