Firefighters responded to a heavy house fire on Central Avenue in Monsey around 2 p.m. on Friday. It took about two hours to battle the blaze.
Around 2 p.m. on Friday, an ex-chief of the Monsey Fire Department noticed a house fire as he was driving by it on Central Avenue. A young boy was on the front lawn and after removing the child, he called in the fire.
Seven fire departments and paramedics responded to the heavy fire. The house was empty and there were no injuries.
Along with paramedics, the fire departments that were at the fire were: Monsey, Nanuet, Hillcrest, Spring Valley, Tallman, Suffern and South Spring Valley.
